If you are trying to register within less than 5 days, contact our Education Department directly at 225.258.2009.*Certification is through the American Heart Association. The Heartsaver CPR/First Aid Course is a course that teaches lay rescuers how to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies including cardiac arrest and choking for adult, child and infant victims. The First Aid Class teaches basic first aid procedures for medical emergencies and environmental emergencies. This class is held in the Medical Plaza Community Education Room. The minimum age to attend this course is 14 and any student under 16 must be enrolled with a paid adult. Payments for classes are due on the day of the class and can be paid to the hospital cashier located in the main entrance of the hospital. Unless otherwise noted, all CPR and First Aid classes will be held in the Community Education Room at David Reynaud Medical Plaza which is located next to St. James Parish Hospital. The Meeting Room is in the Hospital. Participants taking the CPR portion of the class only may finish sooner than those taking the combined class.
